Day Three
Florida to Arizona

Not much sight seeing today. We just checked our bags, got some breakfast and boarded our first flight. We had to make a connection in Atlanta and then we had a direct flight to Phoenix. Both flights were uneventful and we arrived on time.

For those that have never been to Arizona, arriving for the first time can take some adjustment. First, there is the dry arid air and the stark contrasts of the surounding land. Second, there is a slight culture adjustment necessary when visiting the Southwest. Its a little different from other areas of the country. However, outside of vegetation differences, there aren't many from other desert regions of North America like Nevada or even Eastern Oregon and Southern Idaho.

After arriving, we had to pick up our rental car and drive to Sierra Vista, home of our Arizona lodgings for the next 4 nights. Our rental car turns out to be a Mitsubishi Montero Sport. The 4wd and higher clearance vehicle will come in handy over the next few weeks.

And that's it for Day three!! At least now we have arrived, are ready to go and see what's doin' in the Southwest.

We did however, have some problems. One problem is that it seems we do not have the software necessary to download the pictures from our digital camera and then upload them to our site. This is a biggie, but we can deal with and fix it over the next few days. The even bigger problem is that we can't seem to get our modem to dial out using our cell phone. This would enable us to do updates throughout the day, upload our current position, and check on weather and obtain other information on the road. This is a BIG problem!! So here we were, and Information Services company on the road and we can't use any of the technology that was one of the purposes we took the trip in the first place! "Somers, we have a problem" Its important that this problem be fixed in the next few days, because after that, we will be on the road in a different town everynight for over a week. Our next opportunity will come when we visit our western office in Boise.
